Onondaga Community College’s eye-catching learning spaces was recognized recently for its outstanding work. Holt Architects received an award from the Organization of the American Institute of Architects for its innovate redesign of a classroom in Ferrante Hall. Professor Furney said, “We want to have classrooms and work-spaces which encourage more than just sitting in a row and staring at the professor the whole time. Stonybrook’s Active Learning Classroom

Frey Hall 119 is an active learning classroom. It has 32 work stations, that can hold 6 students each. Each station has a Dell computer, 42″ 4K monitor, mouse and keyboard. Students and faculty can also share content throughout the room, using the Mirror 360 app, from the work station or their own personal device. When faculty or students do not feel safe in public among people during the pandemic, this tool can be deployed by Universities’ IT departments easily as a COVID response for teaching classes outside the walls of the classroom. This tool allows faculty to facilitate online instruction to large groups more effectively using multiple screens in a large format. Meet Bill Meyers from SUNY Geneseo

Bill Meyers has been with SUNY Geneseo for 25 years. In his time at SUNY Geneseo his main areas of responsibility include  Classroom Technology Support; classroom A/V systems design, installation & maintenance; Technical support for their TV production facility; Technical Support for live streaming of Commencement, Convocation, and other Campus Special Events; (now) Zoom support also. Bill received his Bachelor of Sciences from SUNY Fredonia. Some other experiences he has had are being a Radio/TV Engineer for 10 years prior to coming to work at Geneseo in 1996.
