Steve Perta has been with the SUNY Polytechnic Institute in\nUtica-Rome (previously known as SUNYIT, SUNY Institute of Technology, SUNY\nCollege of Technology, & SUNY Utica-Rome) going on 33 years.  In this capacity Steve serves as an Associate\nfor Instructional Resources and Chief Engineer responsible for Design, Purchasing,\nInstallation, Implementation, Operation, Documentation, surrounding campus\nClassroom Technology,  Television Studio\n& Control Room, Satellite Transmission\/Reception, Distance Learning\nVideoconferencing Systems, Microwave Link, Cable TV System, Sound reinforcement\nand image projection, Digital Signage, Computer Graphics Station, Media\nDuplication and Department LAN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He holds an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology from\nMVCC, a BS Degree in Electrical Technology from SUNY College of Technology and\na Masters Degree in Telecommunications from SUNYIT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He serves on many campus committees including Elected Chairperson\nof the SUNY Poly Utica Campus Staff Assembly, Parking Violations Appeals Board\nChair, Campus Events Committee, Member, \nUUP Chapter Treasurer and Professional Delegate,  Utica City School District Educational\nTelevision Channel Advisory Board, Member,  SUNY POLY Governance Council-at large member,\nSUNY POLY Technology Committee Member, \nSUNY POLY Distance Learning Committee Member, and JLMC Individual\nDevelopment Awards Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor\u2019s Award for\nExcellence in Professional Service and has been recognized with the numerous\nother campus awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the\nMohawk Valley Federal Credit Union which serves state employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve is a Pilot and aircraft owner with over 2000 hours\ncommand pilot time and a Lt Colonel in the US Air Force Auxiliary where he had\nheld numerous command positions over 40+ years. \nHe is a Lead Representative FAA Safety Team-Albany Flight Standards\nDistrict Office, a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Experimental\nAircraft Association and Fraternal Order of the Quiet Birdmen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve is also a Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator and\nmember of the Mohawk Motorcades Automobile Club.  He and his wife Colleen reside in Rome, NY.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
